Privacy Policy
In short: we process the data needed to run and improve the game. Rankings show only your name, photo and scores; only we can see your email address and device details. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising. Google Analytics runs only if you allow it. You can delete your account and data at any time.
1. Who is responsible
Cube Buddies is a browser game published at cubebuddies.com; the Cube Buddies 3D app on Google Play opens the same game, and this policy covers it too. The data controller under Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) is Fehmi Atican. Contact: fehmi@cubebuddies.com
2. What data we process
- If you create an account (with Google, or with email and password): your name, email address, the address of your profile photo if you use Google, and your account ID. Your password is kept by Google's sign-in service (Firebase Authentication); we cannot see it.
- If you don't sign in: a random guest ID created on your device.
- Game data: your score, game mode, the biggest cube you reached, game length, the mission you reached, the date of the game and how smoothly it ran on your device (frames per second).
- If you allow notifications: your device's notification address (a Firebase Cloud Messaging token), your player id, language, time zone and when you last opened the game.
- Usage records: what you do in the game (e.g. starting a game, leaving a game, opening the shop, using a power-up) and when.
- Device details: browser and operating system, whether the browser is automated (a bot), platform, screen resolution, language and time zone. The time zone gives an approximate country. Our own records hold no IP address or GPS location.
- Sharing and challenges: if you came through an invite link, the player who invited you; in challenges, both players' names and scores.
- What you write to us: your feedback message (with your name and email if you are signed in).
- Kept only on your device: your settings (sound, graphics, language), game progress, gold and power-ups, discovered cubes and the messages you have read are stored in your browser's local storage.
3. Why we process it (purpose and legal basis)
- To run the game: recognising your account, showing your scores in the rankings, handling challenges and invite rewards, delivering Mailbox messages and gifts — performance of a contract (KVKK art. 5/2-c).
- To improve and protect the game: finding bugs, measuring how the game is used, preventing abuse such as fake scores and offensive names — legitimate interest (KVKK art. 5/2-f).
- Sending notifications: only if you allow them (explicit consent, KVKK art. 5/1): a Mailbox message or gift for you, someone taking or beating your challenge, announcements to everyone and, if you don't open the game for 2 days, one reminder. Never between 21:00 and 09:00 in your time zone; at most two automatic notifications a day. Withdraw it any time in the game under Settings → Notifications or in your browser's settings.
- Google Analytics measurement: only with your explicit consent (KVKK art. 5/1). Without it Google Analytics does not run at all; you can withdraw your consent in Settings at any time.
- Legal obligations: such as requests from competent authorities (KVKK art. 5/2-ç).
4. Who can see it
- Everyone: your name, profile photo and scores in the rankings and challenges. You can change your name in your profile; offensive names are blocked.
- Only us (the admin): your email address, device details, usage records and feedback.
- Our service provider Google: data is stored on Google Firebase; the database and server processing run in data centres in Europe. Sign-in (Firebase Authentication), notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and Google Analytics are provided by Google LLC. Notifications reach your phone through your browser's own push service (e.g. Google, Apple, Mozilla).
We do not sell or rent your data to third parties or use it for advertising.
5. Transfers abroad
Google LLC, which provides sign-in, hosting and analytics, is based in the United States; as part of these services your data may be processed on servers outside Turkey. Such transfers are made under Article 9 of the KVKK.
6. Local storage and cookies
The game keeps your settings and progress in your browser's local storage; this is needed for the game to work and stays with you. Google Analytics cookies and similar identifiers are used only if you allow them.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account, game and usage records: while your account is open, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Notification record: deleted as soon as you switch notifications off, or by itself if you don't open the game for 60 days.
- Feedback messages: as long as needed to answer them and improve the game.
- Google Analytics data: at most 14 months, under Google's retention setting.
8. Your rights
Under KVKK art. 11 you can ask us: whether your personal data is processed and, if so, for information about it; the purpose of processing and whether it is used accordingly; who it is transferred to in Turkey or abroad; to correct it if incomplete or wrong, to delete or destroy it under the conditions of KVKK art. 7, and to have these actions notified to those it was transferred to; to object to a result against you that arises solely from automated analysis; and to compensation if you suffer damage from unlawful processing. If you live in the EU/EEA or the UK, you have similar rights under the GDPR, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Send your request to fehmi@cubebuddies.com; we answer within 30 days (KVKK art. 13). If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to Turkey's Personal Data Protection Board (KVKK art. 14).
9. Deleting your data
- Signed in: in the game, Profile → Delete my account and data. Your account, scores, place in the rankings, game and usage records and notification record, including your email address, are deleted permanently.
- Guest: in the game, Profile → Delete my data on this device clears the data on your device. To have your guest records on our servers deleted as well, send the guest ID shown on the same screen to fehmi@cubebuddies.com.
- If you removed the app (Google Play): open cubebuddies.com in a browser, sign in with the same account and follow the step above; or ask us to delete it at fehmi@cubebuddies.com (writing from your account's email address is enough).
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top is updated; important changes are also announced in the game's Mailbox.
